Sony’s OLED Bravia 4K TVs Start at $5,000

In the market for a new TV and have a couple thousand to spare? Sony might have just what you're looking for.

Sony Bravia A1E SeriesThe tech giant on Tuesday announced pricing and availability details for its new lineup of slim 4K HDR OLED TVs, dubbed the Bravia A1E Series, first announced at CES in January. The 55-inch model is the cheapest of the bunch at $4,999.99 while the 65-inch version will set you back $6,499.99. Both sets are now available for pre-order via Amazon and Best Buy and are slated to hit store shelves next month.

Sony also has a 77-inch model in the works, but has not yet revealed when it will be available or how much it will cost.

The Bravia A1E Series is Sony's first large screen consumer OLED TV, according to the company's North American Director of Product Marketing for TVs and projectors Kevin Brinkman.

"The A1E features a powerful mix of our exclusive image processing with a striking new design concept that is sure to make an impression in anyone's home," he said.

The company said these new sets will offer "unparalleled" black levels and contrast. They can hang on a wall or be propped up by a stand. Either way, "the stand and speakers virtually disappear—appearing as if it's floating," Sony said in January. A rear cover can hide unsightly cords.
