After the disastrous Note 7 rollout, Samsung is looking to rebuild that brand with the expected launch of the Galaxy Note 8 in New York City this morning.
Rumors about the Note 8 tip a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display; similar in size to the Galaxy S8. We're also looking for a dual rear camera module, 3x optical zoom, and other camera tricks. It's not expected to be particularly affordable, though.
The launch event for Samsung's last Note device took place on Aug. 2, 2016, also in New York. But as we know, things didn't go according to plan. Buyers soon reported that their Galaxy Note 7s were catching on fire, prompting a recall and even an airline ban on the devices. By October, Samsung halted production of the Note 7 entirely. Ultimately, Samsung blamed the phone's battery.
Here's hoping the Note 8 launch goes a bit smoother.
