Need a Portable iPhone Stand? Use an AirPods Case!

The iPhone, much like every other smartphone out there, is designed first and foremost to be used in the hand. However, with the size of phone displays increasing and HD resolutions now the norm, they are great media players on the go. So a stand is useful allowing you to sit back, relax, and watch.

There are countless accessory companies out there who will happily sell you a portable stand for your iPhone for just a few dollars. But it turns out you may already be carrying around a perfectly good stand in your pocket.

Twitter user Omar Elfanek had this realization and tweeted the GIF you see below:

If you own AirPods, the case can also be your iPhone stand! As The Verge points out, it's not perfect, but it does seem to work with most iPhone models including the iPhone X. Of course, the bigger the iPhone the more careful you will need to be with balancing it.

A stand designed for your specific model of iPhone (or a universal stand) is obviously going to be better, but if you forget to throw it in a bag, or an AirPod-owning friend complains of wishing they'd bought a stand, you can show them this neat trick and enjoy them being impressed with how clever you are (until the iPhone slides off the AirPods case).
