The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 500 points in Monday trading, extending the market’s retreat into a fourth consecutive week.
The blue-chip benchmark slid 2.1%. The S&P 500 fell 1.7%, led by shares of energy and materials companies. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.2%. The tech-heavy index closed on Friday at its lowest level since Aug. 11.
