Xbox One X Converted Into a Laptop

Xbox One X Converted Into a Laptop

The Xbook One X includes a 21.5-inch 1080p display with prices starting at $2,495.

If you've ever fancied having a games console converted into a laptop, then Eddie Zarick is the man to talk to. He's been doing it for years, with his most recent conversions including both the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim, and the very impressive Xstation, which houses a PS4 and Xbox One in one case. Now Zarick is touting his latest build: an Xbox One X in laptop form.

The Xbook One X is far from portable, but much easier to carry around than a separate Xbox One X and TV. Zarick created a custom casing to house the Xbox One X and a 21.5-inch 1080p ViewSonic panel. The One X retains its original cooling and all ports, but loses one USB port on the back if you opt to have a keyboard included with the laptop.

The Xbook One X is not cheap, with prices starting at $2,495 for a 1TB model. There are no batteries because of how power-hungry the console is, so you'll always need to be near a power outlet to use it. Opting for a 1080p panel makes sense as 4K at this size is pointless. However, you can use the HDMI-out on the back of the Xbook to hook up to a 4K display.

If you want one, Zarick requires a $1,000 deposit with the full price being $2,645 (including $150 shipping) within the US. The casing can be black or white with the accents being any color you want. Zarick is also more than willing to customize your Xbook One X, but that costs extra.

The Xbox One X costs $500 and a ViewSonic 21.5-inch 1080p monitor costs $140 for a total cost of $640. The almost $2,000 extra you pay for the Xbook One X is due to the work involved to make it and the materials needed for the housing, which is why Zarick specifies up to three weeks to complete each order.
